Speaking Opportunities

Each year, more than 50 unique seminars occur during the BC Construction Show. The seminars that make up the educational component of the BC Construction Show are widely regarded as some of the most informative and best-attended in the industry. On behalf of the BC Construction Show Planning Committee, outlined below are details of an invitation to submit a seminar synopsis that will be reviewed by the Planning Committee for potential inclusion in the 2009 Conference Education Program.

Speakers and seminars will be selected based on varying criteria including: relevancy to the industry, timeliness, speaker experience and how the particular topic blends with the rest of the seminar program. Generally, sessions run for about 1.5 hours. If you or someone within your organization would like the opportunity to speak at the BC Construction Show, please submit the information outlined below.

Criteria for submissions:

  1. Title
  2. 4 – 5 sentence synopsis of the proposed seminar.
  3. Indicate what type of instructional methodology will be used — i.e.) panel presentation, interactive/hands on learning, single speaker, etc. To consider for your proposal: Research indicates delegates prefer panel presentations, meaning 3 – 5 speakers (this would include a moderator, if required) who will present a number of differing opinions and perspectives on the topic. Having more than one speaker is not mandatory this is just to inform you.
  4. Indicate the learning objectives achieved at the end of the seminar — i.e.) "At the end of this seminar the learner will ________".
  5. Indicate if a PowerPoint presentation or other alternative audiovisual learning devices will be used. (PowerPoint presentations are not mandatory but research indicates delegates prefer them)
  6. Speaker name(s) and full contact information and a brief biography, including two references, outlining speakers' presentation skills.
  7. If your submission is deemed to be 'Commercial' it will not be considered for inclusion.
  8. Most importantly: Conference seminars will be valid towards continuing education credits for various organizations. It is imperative that seminars contain valuable and timely information and are not used as an opportunity by the speaker or the speaker’s company to provide a "commercial" on your services and/or products. The presentation must be broader in context to include a variety of options/products/perspectives in order to provide the best information possible to delegates. This is your company’s reputation in front of BC’s elite decision-makers.

Please submit by emailing Erin Osborne at  on or before October 31, 2008. If you have any questions please call 604-730-2053. We look forward to reviewing your submission.

Please read the speaker guidelines (PDF).

MMPI Canada Inc. will contact only those who have provided submissions chosen for inclusion.
